RESEARCH INTERESTSDr. Hsu's research interests are nerve tissue engineering, vascular tissue engineering, and cell behavior on biomedical polymer nanocomposites.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTSDr. Hsu has created several different biomedical polymer nanocomposites for making peripheral nerve conduits and vascular grafts. Most of them have been patented. Dr. Hsu have incorporated neural stem cells (developed by Dr. I.-M. Chiu) in the biomaterial nerve conduits she fabricated, and demonstrated the feasibility to repair the transected sciatic nerve in a rat model. She is now conducting the differentiation of endothelial progenitor cells and other basic cell behavior studies on novel model surface of nanobiomaterials she developed.
