RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Lo's major research interests, with multidisciplinary approaches, converge in the field of Nano/Biophotonics, especially in applying in vivo spectroscopy and optical imaging with novel nanoparticulates towards prognoses and therapeutics of various diseases such as cancer and central nervous system injury.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Dr. Lo's research accomplishment could be described in a generic and panoramic scheme as of "Nanoparticle-modulated In Vivo Biophotonics Sensing and Imaging for Translational Theranostics". It's an effort to synergize emerging biophotonics and nanotechnology towards medical solutions, from basic to bedside, namely translational innovations. Tri-functionalization of novel nanoparticles, especially mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs), orchestrates the trio of imaging, targeted delivery and therapy. Such a 3-in-1 approach facilitates and realizes the advance of comprehensive theranostics, i.e., the dual diagnostic and therapeutic utility of a compound or methodology, in clinical translation of nanomedicine.
